The goal is to restore both functional comfort — reducing sensation of laxity during intercourse — and to improve overall tissue tone and sensation.

Who is a candidate?

Good candidates are medically healthy, non-smokers, have realistic expectations about the procedure, and ideally are at least three months post-partum if recent childbirth is the cause of their concern.

How the procedure is performed at Estetica Istanbul

Your consultation begins with a private, non-judgmental discussion of your concerns and expectations. The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. The incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures. The procedure typically takes between forty-five and ninety minutes. You spend one night in the clinic for observation and pain management, and are then discharged to your hotel to begin recovery at home.

Recovery: what to expect week by week

The first two weeks post-surgery require significant care. You will experience discomfort — managed with prescribed analgesia — and some vaginal discharge as the incisions heal. Light vaginal bleeding or blood-tinged fluid is normal. You can return to office-based work after ten to fourteen days, though you may prefer to work remotely if possible during the first week.

Sexual abstinence is essential for the full four to six weeks following surgery to allow internal tissues to heal completely. Returning to intercourse before tissues have properly healed significantly increases the risk of complications. By week four, light activity is usually comfortable, and by week six, normal activities including exercise can resume. Full sensation recovery may take two to three months as nerve sensation gradually returns.

Risks and realistic expectations

Vaginoplasty carries the standard risks of any surgical procedure under general anaesthesia — infection, bleeding, reaction to anaesthesia — plus tissue-specific considerations. Temporary reduced sensation is normal immediately after surgery and typically resolves within eight to twelve weeks. In rare cases, persistent reduced sensation or overcorrection requiring revision surgery may occur.
